WANT TO KNOW HOW
TO GET YOUR BUSINESS LISTED AS A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS ON EFIMERON.COM?
Today’s market is being reshaped to adapt itself to increased attention toward sustainable solutions, climate-change mitigation measures, and actions for habitat and biodiversity preservation.
Here’s how to become a sustainable business, contributing to the creation of a new tourism industry:
- Implement Sustainable Practices: Ensure that your business is genuinely applying sustainable practices. This might include energy-efficient lighting, water conservation measures, waste reduction and recycling initiatives. Go beyond just the physical property and consider the amenities you offer. By providing refillable soap dispensers, recycled paper products, or even organic and locally sourced snacks, you can reduce waste and provide a sustainable experience for guests.
- Educate Guests: Make sure your guests understand the sustainable practices you have in place and how they can help by conserving resources during their stay. This can be done through educational materials, signage, or even in-person discussions.
- Partner with Local Organizations: Establish partnerships with local organizations that prioritize sustainability, such as recycling centers or conservation groups. This helps to strengthen your commitment to sustainability and also provides opportunities for guests to get involved in local initiatives during their stay.
- Documentation: Create detailed documentation outlining your sustainable practices. This will serve as evidence to booking platforms and guests that you’re genuinely committed to sustainability. Make sure to include third-party independent certifications or awards when available.
In order to prove reliability and ensure transparency to our visitors, we are currently working on the implementation of a solid methodology to assess the weighting of each practice, in terms of positive, measurable, environmental and social impact.
We are also developing a verification process to assess the compliance of our suggested SMEs with the thresholds and requirements set out by existing certifications and labels, like the ones recognized by the EU Ecolabel and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). This verification process could draw from the reviews of previous guests or from the independent evaluation of a third-party auditor.
